A party who interpleads and pays disputed funds into court is not thereby shielded from liability for interest under s.48 of the High Court Ordinance (Cap. 4); where the interpleader has been kept out of money it knew was due to a claimant and significant delay occurred before payment in, the interpleader may be ordered to bear the interest.
