Crabb v Arun District Council

Where a landowner by his conduct or assurances leads another to believe he has or will be granted a right over the land, and that other acts to his detriment in reliance, equity will intervene by proprietary estoppel to satisfy the equity so raised, even absent a concluded contract or consideration.
