Suppression and non-publication orders are an exception to the fundamental principle of open justice and may be made under the Court Suppression and Non-publication Orders Act 2010 (NSW) only where 'necessary' (not merely convenient or desirable) within one of the statutory grounds; the open-justice principle has primacy and any departure must be the minimum required.
