Key Principle
Legal (advice) professional privilege is confined to confidential communications passing between a client and his legal adviser for the purpose of giving or obtaining legal advice, and does not extend to communications between the solicitor (or client) and a third party unless that third party was acting as agent of the client or solicitor or the communication was made for the purpose of pending or contemplated litigation.
