Key Principle

Joint authorship of a copyright work under s.10(1) of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 requires collaboration, authorial contribution that is more than trivial, and contributions that are not distinct; the contributions need not be equal and the fact that one collaborator is the 'ultimate arbiter' of the work does not preclude joint authorship.
