Key Principle

Where a defendant is enriched as a result of the claimant's loss, the enrichment is at the claimant's expense for the purposes of unjust enrichment even though it is not transferred directly, provided there is a sufficient causal link; and subrogation to an extinguished unpaid-vendor's lien is an available restitutionary remedy to reverse such enrichment.
