Nutting v Southern Housing Group Ltd
[2004] EWHC 2982 (Ch)
Key Principle
To succeed to an assured tenancy as a person living with the tenant 'as his or her wife or husband' (read, post-Ghaidan, to include same-sex partners) under s.17 of the Housing Act 1988, the survivor must show a relationship of genuine, mutual lifetime emotional commitment with an element of permanence, not merely cohabitation of convenience.
