Petre v Heneage
Petre v Heneage (1701) 12 Mod 519; 88 ER 1490
Key Principle
A person who has another's chattel in their possession does not convert it merely by keeping it, but does commit conversion (trover) if they use the chattel as if it were their own; thus wearing or otherwise dealing with another's property inconsistently with the owner's title amounts to conversion.
