Key Principle
A fit parent cannot voluntarily delegate or share parental responsibility over a child with a non-parent through the appointment of a guardian; parental responsibility is a non-delegable duty (save by adoption), and s 5 of the Guardianship of Infants Act does not empower the court to appoint a guardian outside the circumstances in ss 6 and 10.
